Guangdong Journal of Animal and Veterinary Science    2023, 48 (4): 66-71.   DOI: 10.19978/j.cnki.xmsy.2023.04.12
    Abstract569)      PDF (1013KB)(2028)       Save
Virus inactivation is the process of using physical or chemical methods to make the virus lose infectivity. The virus inactivation efficiency is often affected by many factors, such as virus characteristics, types of inactivators and the aims of inactivation. The selection of inactivators is usually determined by the characteristics of the virus and its use after inactivation. Vaccine development requires complete inactivation of the virus while maintaining the integrity of the viral protective antigen epitope structure to induce an effective host immune response. Molecular biological detection requires complete viral genome integrity. Therefore, selecting appropriate inactivators to inactivate highly pathogenic pathogens is an important guarantee for subsequent work such as pathogen molecular diagnosis, serological analysis, and vaccine development. At present, more and more virus inactivators are being developed and utilized. In this paper,5 chemical virus inactivators frequently used are selected, namely formaldehyde,β ? propiolactone, guanidium based chaotropic salts, psoralen, hydrogen peroxide, the inactivation mechanism and inactivation characteristics of the aboved virus inactivators, along with the application of inactivated virus are summarized as follows.

The expression of HO?1 mRNA was detected by QPCR. The results showed that compared with the control group, the cell viability(P<0.01)was significantly reduced after 1 h of LPS treatment with 40 μg/mL. The expression of IL?6,ROS,LDH and MDA(P<0.05)was significantly increased, the expression of HO?1 mRNA(P<0.01)was significantly increased, and SOD(P<0.01)and NADH activity(P<0.05)were significantly reduced. Compared with the model group, the expression of MDA(P<0.05)and the expression of NADH and HO?1 mRNA were significantly increased(P<0.05)in the perilla seed and knotweed extract groups, while the remaining six extracts did not show significant differences. In summary, among the eight plant extracts, perilla seed and knotweed extract(20 μg/mL) improved the antioxidant effect of MODE?K cells, and the effect of perilla seed was better than that of knotweed.

Intensice pond culture and“cultivate Hydrilla verticillata and breeding shrimp”are the two most typical culture models of macrobrachium rosenbergii in Guangdong province. This study was invetigate to comparative the effects of two cultrue molels on growth performance, body composition, muscle amino acid composition and economic benefit of M.rosenbergii. The results showed that the final body size, condiction factor and freshness of M. rosenbergii produced under the two cultrue models including intensice pond culture and“cultivate H. verticillata and breeding shrimp”had significant difference. The contents of crude protein and calcium composition in the whole body, essential amino acids, flavorable amino acids and total amino acids in the shrimp muscle under the“cultivate H.verticillata and breeding shrimp”model were significantly higher than those under the intensice pond model. The income, net profit, inputoutput ratio and cost profit margin of“cultivate H. verticillata and breeding shrimp”model were obviously higher than that of the intensice pond model. These results indicated that the M. rosenbergii produced under the the“cultivate H. verticillata and breeding shrimp”model is more in line with the taste of producers and consumers, and it is suggested to adopt it in production practice and promote it. The results provided a reference for the selection of culture mode of M. rosenbergii.

Chicken is one of the main sources of meat protein with gradually increased proportion in the national meat consumption, therefore consumers are paying more attention to the meat quality. Influenced by the COVID pandemic and bird flu,the market of frozen chicken products is increasing. However, the quality of frozen chicken products generally declines significantly over time. Therefore, breeding researchers not only pay attention to improving broiler production performance, but also study meat quality improvement strategies in large ?? scale production. According to previous studies, the evaluation and detection methods of chicken meat quality varied between reports, yielding inconsistent results. In order to provide references and basic data for building the chicken meat quality evaluation system and the improvement of chicken quality, the evaluation methods (e.g.,physical indicators, chemical composition and sensory evaluation),detection index(e.g.,pH value, meat color, tenderness, water holding capacity, composition of amino acids and fatty acids),and the influencing factors(e.g.,breed,age,feed composition, management, pre??slaughter stress)of chicken meat quality were summarized in this paper.

Throughout the long history of co⁃evolution with humans, dogs have developed a superior ability in the understanding and utilization of social signals within human society compared to other animals. While there has been considerable foreign research on dog social behavior and cognition and the human⁃dog relationship, this area of study is relatively new in China. This review summarizes the research progress on dog social cognitive abilities in human⁃dog interactions, focusing on the understanding and use of human social signals by dogs, their ability to send social signals to humans, and factors that influence dog social abilities with humans(i.e.,environmental,physiological,and genetic factors). Currently, human understanding of dog social behavior is inadequate, with most research confined to laboratory settings and having limited practical application. Further research could provide scientific evidence for improving dog social behavior and human⁃dog interactions, fostering a more harmonious relationship between humans and dogs.

    Abstract1916)      PDF (1157KB)(1311)       Save
Feline triaditis refers to a comprehensive disease in which cats have concurrent pancreatitis, cholangitis and inflammatory bowel disease. The pancreas, cholecyst and biliary system, and intestine are anatomically and functionally associated, affecting each other when inflammation occurs, which leads to the occurrence of triaditis. The diagnosis of triaditis is challenging due to the lack of specific clinical symptoms and reliable laboratory test results. This article provided a thorough overview of the putative etiopathpgenesis and clinical manifestation of feline triaditis. Histopathological feature, relative clinical significance and difficulties inherent in making these diagnoses were discussed, and recommendations on how best to treat and manage these conditions were given in order to provide reference for peers.

This study aims to explore the diagnostic and therapeutic methods for feline urinary retention. As a common manifestation of Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease(FLUTD),feline urinary retention can lead to systemic infection or even death in severe cases. In this case, feline urinary retention was initially suspected through inspection, inquiry, and palpation;further confirmed by imaging examinations including DR and abdominal color Doppler ultrasound;and finally diagnosed based on the results of blood routine, biochemical indicators, and coagulation function tests. After 3 days of conservative treatment, the cat's symptoms showed no significant improvement,so perineal urethrostomy was performed. The cat achieved good postoperative recovery and a favorable prognosis. This case indicates that for urinary retention cases unresponsive to conservative treatment, perineal urethrostomy can effectively improve the quality of life of affected cats, providing valuable reference for clinical practice.

Guangdong Journal of Animal and Veterinary Science    2025, 50 (4): 40-44.   DOI: 10.19978/j.cnki.xmsy.2025.04.07
    Abstract168)      PDF (1516KB)(1250)       Save
To explore the detection effect of different detection methods and the feasibility of the combination of avian leukemia virus(ALV)infection and AL purification, the study in chicken, using ALV p27 antigen ELISA method and ALV⁃JPCR nucleic acid detection method, from 2020 to 2024 a total of 1 333 randomly collected whole blood samples for ALV detection analysis. The results showed that in Tibetan chickens, the positive rate of ALV p27 antigen ELISA test was 15.42%,ALV⁃JPCR nucleic acid test was 2.49%. The total positive rate of the two detection methods was 17.23%,among which only 3 individuals were positive for the two detection methods, accounting for 3.95% of the total positive individuals. In addition, since AL purification in 2020 to 2024,the AL positive rate of milin Tibetan chickens decreased from 17.23% to 0 between 2020 and 2024. The results show that there are mixed infection of ALV⁃J subgroup and other subgroups in the flock;the combination of the two methods can greatly improve the ALV detection rate and can provide reference for the actual purification work;the AL purification of milin Tibetan chicken group is significant, which basically realizes the effective control of AL in the flock, which can provide data support for the AL prevention and control purification of this species.
