This paper examines the layer industry in Maoming City，Guangdong Province，with the aim of exploring practical pathways for modernization of regional characteristic agriculture. Through a systematic analysis of the industry‘s scale，structure，technical capacity，and supply chain configuration，the study identifies key challenges that constrain its development. In response，strategic recommendations are proposed to achieve high?quality growth，focusing on strengthening policy guidance，promoting integrated supply chain upgrading，developing distinctive brands，establishing a modern management system，and reinforcing safety and biosecurity protocols. The study concludes that the modernization of Maoming’s layer industry holds substantial practical significance for supporting the regional agricultural economy and ensuring the stability of the“Food Basket”project for the Guangdong? Hong Kong?Macao Greater Bay Area. Moreover，the pathways identified in this study offer valuable insights for the development of similar characteristic agricultural industries in other regions.
